LIGHTBURN ALTERNATIVE MAC SOFTWARE
These are the types of software companies I love to support.ĭesign with the laser off - This sounds simple, but the Neje software will not let you design an image unless your laser is running.

The developers are often seen in the forums and regularly use the software themselves. Updated Regularly - Lightburn is one of those unicorns that is intuitive, affordable, and regularly updated. Lighbturn not only accepts these file types, but can export in many of them as well when it comes time to sharing.Ĭamera Compatibility - Ready to turn your laser setup to 11? With the addition of a cheap webcam, you can add a camera to your Neje Maseter 2 and design images directly on the material. This results in much faster engraving for vector-style images.Ĭompatible with many more file types - As you expand your search for files to engrave, you will quickly come across file types not compatible with Neje software. Lightburn engraves paths by drawing entire paths along curves and corners. This is necessary for images, greyscale, etc., but very inefficient when engraving single lines.

Raster - Neje does most its work in raster mode moving across an entire line of the piece, slowing down to burn the parts needed before moving on to the next line. In most cases, this replaces the need for other image editing software such as Inkscape. This includes drawing vectors, cleaning up images, and even tracing images from raster to paths. Powerful editor - Lightburn not only controls the laser, but it provides a more powerful editor. This is possible in one job without any intervention. In Lightburn, you can set a job to engrave a path in step 1, raster an image in step 2, and then cut out the entire piece in step 3. Multi-step jobs at different power settings and different speeds - This alone is worth the price of Lightburn. If you want more, then here are a few things Lightburn can do that Neje cannot: You upload an image, pick your size, choose your feeds and speeds (power and speed in the case of a laser), and click ‘Burn’. Out of the box, the Neje software meets the needs of many folks. If this is the Neje you own, then use the other tutorial linked here.Īdvantages of Lightburn over Neje Software Master 2S (auto-homing, 32 bit) - Tutorial Here - This is the newer, 32-bit version of the Neje Master 2.

If that doesn’t work, try the tutorial linked for the Master 2S below. If needing a tutorial, I recommend trying the Neje documentation first. I do not own one of these boards, so I do not have a tutorial available. Master 2 (auto-homing) - This is a newer version board of the same Master 2 16-bit Neje. If this is your Neje, then you are on the correct tutorial. Master 2 (non-S, non-homing) - This is the older version of the Master 2 which does not support auto-homing. Master (Original) - This Neje does not support Lightburn and does not have an available tutorial. If you have not modified your device, there should be a sticker indicating the version of Master 2 (non-S). This tutorial is for the Neje Master 2 (non-S, non-homing). There are multiple versions of the Neje Master. MUST READ: Verify you are on the correct tutorial!
LIGHTBURN ALTERNATIVE MAC FULL
By following these instructions, you agree to take full responsibility for your health and safety of your environment. I am merely a Neje user that wanted to use what I believe to be the best available laser software. I am associated with neither Neje nor Lightburn. My preferred alternative laser software is Lightburn. Out of the box, it performs well for simple tasks, but if you want to do more, you’re going to need to take advantage of alternative software and the Master 2’s (99%) ability to accept regular Gcode.

The Neje Master 2 is a small, affordable laser engraver with a strong following.
